Today, on October 12, Professor Alison MacDonald, who represented Armenia at the hearing of Armenia’s complaint against Azerbaijan at the International Court of Justice, stated:
“The European Parliament interpreted the violent actions of Azerbaijan on September 19 as a planned, unjustified military attack, which is a gross violation of human rights and international law and contradicts the ceasefire agreement of November 9, 2020.
Because of this attack, more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians fled their homes, taking only what could be gathered by hand. We are just beginning to understand this tragedy. Ethnic cleansing is terrifying, but we are here today because more profound damage is possible if the court does not take urgent steps,” MacDonald said in his speech.
