RA Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan referred to the statements of the President of Azerbaijan that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict no longer exists and there is no need for OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmanship.
According to Mirzoyan, RA cannot be guided by Azerbaijani claims. “Especially taking into account the fact that very often the various Azerbaijani claims on various topics have contradictions within themselves. We can only mention the example of the Lachin Corridor, when Azerbaijan claimed and, I think, still claims that the corridor is not closed, it is not blocked, then simultaneously or two days apart, it claims that the corridor is blocked by civil activists dealing with the environment. who have environmental concerns, then say that those activists should check the cargo and people passing through the corridor, etc. If Azerbaijani claims guide us, we will be baffled,” he said during a joint press conference with the OSCE chairman.
According to Mirzoyan. “Azerbaijan claims that not only the Minsk Group no longer exists, but also Nagorno-Karabakh does not exist, the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict does not exist, there is no question in that context that is subject to addressing, international discussion, solution, etc. If I make the answer private and talk about the topic you raised, the fact is that no OSCE member country alone can put an end to a mechanism, an institution, a decision, on the foundation of which all member countries agreed and which was founded, in fact , by all member states. The Minsk process, the Minsk format exists, but for many reasons, objective and subjective, the activity of the co-chairmanship is currently frozen. I am sure that the Minsk process and the Minsk conference, which it was originally about, still has its work to do and has a role in addressing the rights and security issues of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. And in general, the OSCE also has work to do, because it is not only about the Minsk process, but also about other institutions, for example, the personal representative of the current president and the implementation of his mandate and his opportunities. I am sure that the OSCE has its work to do. We also talked about the fact-finding mission that was sent to the region in December, so, as the classic would say, those rumors are a little exaggerated.”
