“The European Union countries have asked the European Commission to present a support package to Moldova by the summer.” Charles Michel, the head of the EU Council, said during his official visit to Chisinau. He promised that the package of macro-financial assistance would be substantial and weighty.
Michel said that the EU Council should decide by the end of 2023 on starting negotiations on the accession of Ukraine and Moldova to the European Union. “It will be a political decision, considering the report the European Commission will prepare. I sincerely hope it will be possible to make a positive decision by the end of the year. The progress on the path to the EU will have tangible and positive results for the people of Moldova,” the President of the EU Council assured.
