The agenda of the Mirzoyan-Lavrov meeting is known

The Russian Foreign Ministry referred to the agenda of today’s meeting between Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergey Lavrov and gave details. According to the press release of the Russian Foreign Ministry, “…the ministers plan to comprehensively discuss the current state of Russian-Armenian cooperation and the next steps in its development, including as part of the implementation of the provisions of the joint statement of the leaders of Russia and Armenia of April 19, 2022, which consolidates bilateral privileged alliance character and strategic direction of cooperation.

The Foreign Ministers will discuss the regional agenda in detail in light of implementing the agreements between Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan at the highest level on November 9, 2020, January 11, 2021, November 26, 2021, and October 31, 2022.

Prospects for strengthening cooperation in general integration associations – CIS, EAEU, and CSTO, and coordination of actions in various international universal platforms, first of all – in the United Nations will be considered.

The most important direction of Russian efforts is unblocking regional transport communications. Within the framework of the tripartite working group under the co-chairmanship of the vice-prime ministers, a package of concrete infrastructure projects is agreed upon with the Armenian and Azerbaijani partners, which will allow the creation of railway and road communication, as well as contribute to the restoration of economic ties. We support the continuation of the work of the bilateral commission on the demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border. The initiation of the border liberalization process aims to contribute to the cessation of border incidents. So that you know- Russia will provide the necessary advisory assistance at the parties’ request.

The preparation of the peace treaty between Yerevan and Baku is meant to strengthen the fundamental principles of relations, to lay the foundations for mutually beneficial cooperation in the long term. Moscow is ready to support this critical process in every possible way based on the interests of regional stability. Contacts in the humanitarian sphere are meant to strengthen the trust between Yerevan and Baku. The Russian side will continue to support the interaction of civil society, parliamentarians, and expert circles to regulate Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.

We consider the upcoming negotiations as a continuation of joint work to maintain a reliable dialogue and develop the entire range of allied relations. We attach great importance to them against the backdrop of shameless attempts by Western countries to antagonize our states and undermine the security architecture being built in the region.”
