RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has stated that he will not sign a document, after which he will not be able to look the people and his family members in the eyes.
“After the statement of November 9, 2020, which I signed, I was unhappy. It was a hard and bitter decision but a conscious one. I have seen that Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh can pursue their interests in that paper and with the implementation of that paper. At that time, that statement was called capitulation, but today both the government, opposition representatives, and human rights defenders refer to that statement. The International Court of Justice justified its decision regarding the Lachin Corridor with that statement. Our problem today is not the tripartite declaration; on the contrary, if the tripartite declaration were fully respected, we would not have all this. Our problem is the non-implementation of that statement, and the lack of guarantees and guarantors is the reason,” Pashinyan said.
He recalled the statement he made months ago in the National Assembly, stating what he would sign and what he would not, after which a large rally was held in Yerevan, “Am I going to sign something after which I won’t be able to look into your and my children’s eyes?
