The US presidential candidates, current President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump will hold a televised debate on CNN on Thursday.
The debate will start at 21:00 (Friday at 05:00 Yerevan time) and last 90 minutes. For the first time in the elections’ history, televised debates will take place before the national party conventions, that is, before the official nomination of candidates. At Trump’s request, opponents will have no writing, just blank papers and a pen.
At Biden’s request, the debate will take place without an audience so as not to be disturbed by shouts and applause. Only two TV presenters will be present in the TV studio. In addition, the microphones will only turn on when politicians are answering their questions to prevent them from interrupting each other or mixing up comments, as Trump likes to do.
