Yesterday in Brussels the EU and Armenia signed visa facilitation agreement. Secretary-General of “European Friends of Armenia” organization Michael Kambeck said that the next two steps of Armenia-EU cooperation will be the liberalization of visa regime and creation of a deep and comprehensive free trade area (DCFTA).
According to him, the first one will be reached when Armenia will create the necessary conditions for it. “Both sides need to exercise facilitation, after 5 months the European Union and Armenia need to analyze which task should be completed within the process of liberalization of visa regime for its start and end,” said Michael Kambeck.
He explained that the EU is based on the idea that borders unnaturally hamper people and businesses. So, if Armenia continues to work, the EU will keep its promise and all Armenians will be able to travel in visa-free Schengen zone.
“The deep and comprehensive trade zone will be implemented faster, which is very necessary for Armenia for socio-economic development,” said the Secretary-General.
He noted that Armenia-EU cooperation has been very good this year, because both parties kept their promises, and all the people skeptical from Europe are positively surprised.
“Of course, this is very good for Armenia. This will help Armenia to achieve the European standards, and become more attractive for investors,” said Secretary-General of “European Friends of Armenia” organization Michael Kambeck.
