Today the head of the NA Hovik Abrahamyan had a meeting to discuss the amendments in the law code book of the NA to make the number of the opposition and the incumbent government representatives in the commission of ethics to the NA equal.
Now the commission of ethics has 6 members from each party fraction. The proposers of the amendment Davit Harutyunyan and Armine Hovhannisyan propose the RP and the “Rule of Law” party to have their representatives there too. Yesterday the hearing in the NA on this issue was rather emotional and Abrahamyan invited the opposition separatelyfor the discussion. ARF member Artsvik Minasyan stated they proposed to take out the terms opposition and government from the code book instead introducing a mechanism which will include a member from each fraction presented in the NA. They also proposed the presidency of the ethics commission to be held on a rotational ground so that each of the 6 representatives had a chance to be selected. Minasyan told if the government did not want to politicize this issue they had better adopt these proposals.
The hearings on this issue will be held today and most probably the proposals of Davit Harutyunyan and Armine Hovhannisyan will pass instead.
