The Ambassador of France to the RA, Henry Renault when asked in his interview with news.am which politician was most inspiring to him, he said all those politicians who had the strong political will and could understand the vision of future sometimes even going against the public will but whose decisions turned out to be the best at that time.
Particularly he spoke about Robert Schumann who in 1950 May 9 stretched hand towards Germany which was completely devastated from the war and in 5 years Europe was set. Other inspirational figures in politics for Renault are Charles de Gaulle, Anvar Sadat, Nelson Mandela, Jean Moulin.
Henry Renault spoke about the role the Ambassador has in the world political and social life. As he states an ambassador’s main aim is to establish and deepen the bilateral relations of the country he or she presents and the country he or she serves in according to the international norms adopted by the UN. He referred to the case of Armenia and France the friendship of which has been proved by history.
When asked what he missed in France when in a diplomatic mission Renault stated first of all being in a new country with the diplomatic mission there are two things that the diplomat must understand: to have a respect and affinity towards the country he or she is deployed and to understand the culture and history of it. The Ambassador told Armenia is so rich with culture and history that he does not miss France.
Renault mentioned the striking difference between Armenia and France which is expressed in appreciating the values of families and the will to stand the challenges. He mentioned the Armenians love life because they know the price of it.
To the question what he would become if not a diplomat, he stated he would go on with university activities, being a journalist or a lawyer.
