The U.S. Embassy in Baku expressed its attitude to the Iranian-Armenian hydroelectric project on cross-border river Araz.
“We monitor all reports of activities, potentially falling under the action of sanctions, and ready to work with the countries, significantly concerned about their action,” said the U.S. embassy in response to the agency, which stressed the implementation of Armenia-Iran joint project to build a hydroelectric power station on the river Araz.
The request highlighted the need to monitor the situation with regard to the implementation of international sanctions against Tehran.
Recall that Iran and Armenia, by Iranian funding, began construction of two hydroelectric power plants on the border river Araz, one of which will pass into full ownership of RA in 15 years. The five-year construction will cost about 324 million dollars.
