Today Gafesjian center will host the second summit of the heads to the European people’s party (EPP) Eastern partnership. As “Haykakan zhamanak” informs, within the frames of the summit the president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, the president of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barosso and the president of the EPP Vilfried Martens will arrive to Yerevan. RP vice president and the minister of education and science Armen Ashotyan informed yesterday that the PM of Moldova Vladimir Filat will also take part in the summit. Serzh Sargsyan will also participate.
Ashotyan highly appreciated the significance of the summit and stated it is a good chance to foster their foreign policy and continue the intrastate developments.
“Haykakan zhamanak” informs this is a PR step by Serzh Sargsyan for the upcoming presidential elections. The paper reminded the case in Georgia where a similar summit was inited 3 minths before the parliamentary elections however the EPP member “National United Movement” lost.
On the other hand, the paper concludes, this is a good chance for isolated Sargsyan who does not make foreign visits very often to activate the political life. The same purpose was pursued by inviting the president of Turkmenistan, the member of the RF federal assembly.
