The head of Yerevan Press Club (YPC) Boris Navasardian presented in the “Henaran” club the intermediate report on the monitoring coverage of the presidential election in 2013 for the period of October 1 to November 20 by Armenia’s broadcast media. The research objects were 6 national TV channels- “H1”, “Armenia”, “Erkir Media”, “Kentron”, “H2” and “Shant” and 1 capital- “Armnews”, and 2 radio channels- Public Radio of Armenia, “Armradio FM 107”.
“The broadcast media’s coverage of monitoring the activities of political parties and presidential candidates preceding the pre-election campaign period may be due to the fact that the unofficial election campaign in Armenia, as a rule, is launched soon. This time, the pre-election development situation has its regularity, it’s the uncertainty of the main incumbent persons at the upcoming campaign. The focus of broadcasters was on 5 political parties- the Republican Party, PAP, ANC, the ARF, “Heritage.” And as potential presidential candidates were mentioned 33 politicians. Serzh Sargsyan for 387 times, Raffi Hovannisian for196 times, Levon Ter-Petrossian-180 times, Gagik Tsarukyan-165 times, Vardan Oskanian-131 times and Robert Kocharian for 86 times, “said Navasardian.
He noted that there are certain dynamics and added that Robert Kocharyan was the only candidate, whom referred in exclusively neutral context.
