Azerbaijani media, citing the announcement made by Ministry of Transport and Communications of Kazakhstan, reports that Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Georgia and Turkey will introduce a single tariff for transportation of goods within the project Silk Wind.
“The use of a unified through tariff is one of the key issues in the creation of a competitive route. Main task of the working groups on the project, among other organizational issues, is elaboration of the definition of agreed tariff as well as the conventional route parameters, allowing providing the transparency of the tariff policy to create a confidential dialogue with the business and provide relevant advertising of the train for the potential customers,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, the proposed measures to simplify customs clearance procedures of Silk Wind train were discussed in October this year in Azerbaijan during the first meeting of Turkic states’ customs service’s heads.
The project Silk Wind was initiated in the framework of TRACECA.
