“Haykakan Zhamanak” reports yesterday ANC member Nikol Pashinyan stated that there is a concrete political, social and legal states in a country and the Constitution has granted the Parliament with certain responsibilities and there is no need to make them higher since they are already high. The way the NA functions today reduces the name of the NA and the whole country as such.
Pashinyan stated yesterday’s empty hall was peculiar to 4-day sessions in the parliament generally and was not something strange. If the issues have reached the assembly it means they are of high importance for the further development of the country and must not be treated the way they are now.
“Haykakan Zhamanak” asked Pashinyan to clarify the RP statement of labeling everything as “political” as the budget – as a political document, or their decision – a political one, etc. The ANC member said in that case it would be better to close down the NA so that their decisions were passed unilaterally. Pashinyan concluded the role of the National Assembly was in bringing the issues that are of high importance to the people of the country into the agenda, discuss rationally and make a decision based on the majoritarian vote. Otherwise these issues can be solved in the street instead of the parliament, Pashinyan stated.
