Today, trend.az reports that Iran’s Deputy Ambassador to the United Nations Eshaq Al-e-Habib warned against the efforts by some countries for making political use from the UN Human Rights Council and discrediting the council, IRNA reported.
Speaking at a session of UN General Assembly in New York on Thursday, Al-e-Habib reiterated Iran’s active participation in the UN council.
Pointing to the efforts made for revising the mechanism of performance of UN Human Rights Council, he reiterated the importance f preventing politicization of this international body.
The Iranian diplomat described the establishment of the UN council as a step forward in improving the human rights structure of the UN and distancing itself from the UN Human Rights Commission whose credentials was harmed due to politicization.
‘The UN Human Rights Council should be a venue for dialogue among countries and consider the cultural differences among different countries of the world.
