The political analyst Johnny Melikyan said Russia will take steps if it sees purely economic perspectives and no political background in the Abkhazian railway re-exploitation. He states Russia will take some steps only after it is confirmed on the stable intrastate political atmosphere in Georgia.
Melikyan referred to the newly appointed minister on reintegration affairs of Georgia Paata Zaqareishvili, who is an advanced and forward looking official and according to whom the Abkhazian and South Ossetian passports will be valid in Georgia soon. This will imply a probable end where Georgia will recognize South Ossetian and Abkhazian independence. The problem here is with the Abkhazian side, as Melikyan goes on, because of the latter’s phobia of being under the influence of Georgia. Another political analyst Levon Shirinyan finds it impossible to speak about South Ossetian and Abkhazian independence. Shirinyan reminded the Georgian economic situation during Saakashvili presidency when the country was interesting to the west with its anti-Russian approaches and it would be better if Georgia did not give a political layer to this issue, otherwise it risks to fail.
The expert urged the Armenian side to restrain from emotional conclusions and stand firm on our interests which includes the opening of the railway.
