Normalization of relations with Armenia should be a reflection of the interests of Turkey to bring peace, security and stability in the region. This was announced on November 5 by the participant of the seminar on “Strengthening security cooperation: additional contribution of NATO new partnership policy” in Yerevan, the representative of Turkey Onur Sailan.
“You all know how the protocols on normalization of relations were signed in 2009, and are familiar with the process after it. Promotion of normalization process depends on the political situation in the region “- said Sailan.
He said that he knew how effective was the U.S. mediation in the Armenian-Turkish issue, drawing attention to the fact that Washington did not force any party to the action. “We would like the U.S. to continue its assistance to the actions, but not decline the state to these actions”, – concluded the representative of Turkey.
Recall that on October 10, 2009 in Zurich the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Turkey, Edward Nalbandian and Ahmet Davutoglu signed protocols on normalization of relations between Armenia and Turkey. After that, the ratification process in the parliaments of Armenia and Turkey has been frozen due to the preconditions put forward by the Turkish side.
