Analyst Musa Mikayelyan published an article on “First Armenian News and Analysis”, where he discusses the role of US in coming presidential elections in Armenia.
“Zhoghovurd” paper writes that yesterday evening Gagik Tsarukyan arrived from Dubai. It is of interest to note that he had meetings with the leader of Armenian National Congress Levon Ter-Petrosyan and US ambassador to Armenia John Heffern, writes the analyst. “Gagik Tsarukyan’s arrival and his meeting with Levon Ter-Petrosyan and John Heffern have something in common. It is not excluded that the American party leads “shuttle policy” in the Congress-PAP plane to create a joint candidate and thus have one oppositional pole for Serzh Sargsyan.”- explains Musa Mikayelyan adding that in such case Serzh Sargsyan will easily carry out his campaign with his famous manipulations and technologies and will achieve the desired results.
The analyst goes on elaborating that USA wants to create such presidential elections in Armenia that can bring some changes just during the very process. “But here there is a larger issue than mere competition. It is important that the competition corresponds to the American policy. US aims at having both poles act in western plane. It takes real efforts in this direction working not only with Serzh Sargsyan, but also with “Prosperous Armenia” and Armenian National Congress.” Musa Mikayelyan concludes saying that the issue is not the westernization of ANC and PAP, but the creation of material political projects as an alternative to Russian directives.
