Today the secretary of National Security Service Arthur Baghdasaryan received EU delegation headed by Mr Štefan Füle, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy.
The press service of NSS reports that the interlocutors discussed the prospective of Armenia-EU cooperation. Both sides appreciated the quick trends of cooperation development. Arthur Baghdasaryan touched upon the project realized in the framework Armenia-EU cooperation, namely the reforms on human rights, democracy, police system, security sphere.
“2012-2013 program includes 161 actions referring to social spheres. All of them are in process. The national policy on human rights will reinforce the ombudsman’s institute and the activities of NGOs concerned in human rights protection.”- noted Arthur Baghdasaryan.
He stressed RA plans to activate more the role of NGOs. “We must reach a point where the public sector becomes integral part of decision-making. We want to create a program letting NGOs participate in state government.”
Mr Štefan Füle appreciated the work of the European agencies in the NSS programs of Euro integration in the context of reforms in RA noting that political systematization is an important factor for the European neighborhood policy. He expressed readiness to take part in the reforms mentioned above that correspond to the philosophy of European Neighborhood Policy.
