More than 1 million Talyshs living in Azerbaijan are not ethnic minorities, but local nations, who are concerned about Safarov’s glorification. This point of view was expressed by expert of Iranian studies, Vardan Voskanyan during the meeting with journalists noting that it distorts the value system of a whole nation.
“Another thing is that Turkey has opened consulate in Lenkoran, the center of Talishstan, where there is nobody speaking Turkish. This means that Turkey wants to enter a region, which is under the control of Iran.” – stressed the expert.
Iran is interested in keeping the border with Nagorno Karabakh, but it will never announce of it according to its policy principles.
Referring to possible attacks against Iran, Voskanyan said. “The territory of Iran is very big, more than Afghanistan and Iran together taken. For attacking such a huge country, one needs colossal financial resources. There are talks that the USA will do that in a year, but we all see that he won’t.”- said the expert of Iranian studies.
