On September 18 in the hotel “Betsy” Mission Director of USAID Georgia Steven Heikkinen with Health Minister Zurab Chiaberashvili, professor of medicine at Emory University Kenneth Walker and other guests celebrated the completion of the project USAID – education of nurses. The project lasted three years and aimed to improve the knowledge and skills of practicing nurses.
At the beginning of the project of the 4-month intensive program at Emory University were retrained 16 Georgian lecturers and trainers. After that, the Georgian and American lecturers jointly developed certification programs. As a result of the project, over 2900 nurses throughout Georgia received training sessions. In the framework of the project a training center in Tbilisi was built, which will continue to prepare nurses in the future.
The project was carried out by Emory University School of Medicine and the nongovernmental organization “Partners for International Development.”
