Hovhannes Igityan, the former chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of Armenian National Assembly, member of the National Movement party, today had a meeting with “168 zham” journalists concerning Safarov’s extradition and said that the resolution, made by the European Parliament, gave a positive impact on Armenia, since they condemn Azerbaijani step and are concerned with Safarov’s extradition.
“Armenia condemns Hungary for its step, meanwhile we should criticize Azerbaijani step, at the European Parliament meeting. Of course the resolution was positive for us, but this is not what we are expecting, other powerful courtiers in the world should also have the same opinion towards the issue and express them in order to put pressure on Azerbaijan” said Igityan.
To the question what will the role of the resolution for the Azerbaijani side be, he responded:
“Nowadays Azerbaijan is not able to listen to any opinions; they don’t want to listen to them because they are against Azerbaijan. I’m not saying this is Azerbaijani citizens’ reaction towards the issue, but the authorities’ reaction, since I read almost all their statements. Naturally they reacted negatively towards the resolution and to any other opinions”.
