The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to bring the level of loss of the country’s gas distribution network to a zero rate in the future, SOCAR President Rovnag Abdullayev told reporters on Saturday.
He said loss volume has considerably decreased in the recent years. Earlier it hit 23 percent, and this year SOCAR plans to reach the standard rate – 9 percent.
“After that, we plan to raise the issue of bringing the loss level to world level,” Abdullayev said.
With regard to gas supply to new buildings, Abdullayev said that SOCAR is ready to provide connection of new buildings to the distribution network within a week. But it is possible in case of availability of an act of building commissioning, issued by the Emergency Situations Ministry.
New buildings can be provided with water and electricity, but gas supply is responsible issue, because supply of building, which is not commissioned yet, may cause an explosion and tragedy.
“We are interested in supplying customers with gas, raising gasification level and raising level of collections, but the security issue is important and therefore we cannot carry out any work without proper documents,” Abdullayev said.
