Why do Syrian-Armenians having arrived in Armenia leave back for war region in case when Armenian districts are being bombed? Yesterday it was reported about 4 victims and 10 injured that returned to Syrian by “Armavia” airplane. Later the number of victims became 7. This issue was the subject of the interview with the president of Armenian National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs Commission Artak Zakaryan. To the commentary whether the cause of the Syrian-Armenians leaving back for Syria is the absence of life conditions for them here, when it is talked about the necessity of taking Armenians out of Syria, Zakaryan disagreed saying state bodies have discussed it for a long time, have created all the opportunities for education, living and to some degree for employment.
He had difficulties in finding any way for protecting Syrian-Armenian districts there in Syria except exiling. Whether the victims don’t signify that Armenia is slow in action, Zakaryan turned to the explanation that there are several local and universal factors favoring the problems in Syria, and it’s not up to Armenia to influence the flow of events. “Some work is being done by the workgroup of Ministry of Diaspora in the frames of its credentials for the sake of protecting Armenian-inhabited districts.”- he explained
Zakaryan insisted that the arrival of Syrian-Armenians is not connected to the Armenian policy saying they might have various motives to return.”Is there any dissatisfied Syrian-Armenian here? They are provided with living places, education and some part by job.”- he added. Zakaryan excluded the necessity of negotiating with Syrian Free army for the sake of protection of Armenians explaining that they are not the targeted group.” For protecting Syrian-Armenians, Armenia tries to do everything among its possibilities to ensure their security there or providing life conditions here.” – said Zakaryan adding that unfortunately NA foreign affairs commission doesn’t have the opportunity to get in touch with Syrian parliament.
