Copyright Protection Association denied permission to use the well-known hit.
Recall that the producer of the popular group Maroon 5 sued the Bank of Georgia for using the hit “Moves Like Jagger” in promotional video without permission, by infringement of copyright.
Head of Public Service Relations of the Bank Sopho Balavadze commented on the situation to “Maestro” TV company: “Every time we use foreign hits, we take a permit, for which we pay a certain amount of money. In Georgia, you can solve this problem only with the Association of copyright protection. One need to contact them and get permission. ”
However, the head of the Association of Copyright Protection Giga Kobaladze said that the Bank of Georgia did not apply them for permission. He explained that Maroon 5 accuses Bank of Georgia not in violation of copyright but for adjacent rights, to which the association could not issue a permit, because it is not part of its mandate.
