Armenian authorities and Armenian lobby artificially boost the situation around extraditing and freeing Safarov, writes Azerbaijani mass media 1news.az referring to the message received the from Azerbaijani embassy to Georgia. It is said in the statement that Safarov’s extradition and pardon corresponded to the norms of international law including the “European convention of Extradition”.
It is further written in the document that the reaction of Armenian authorities and Armenian lobby around this issue is artificially exaggerated. “We bring several facts proving the Armenian lie, namely, G. Margaryan wasn’t killed when asleep, and his murder isn’t based on ethnic hatred. The murder is connected to the offense towards Safarov’s dignity and Azerbaijani flag. It must be taken into account that Safarov’s family became refugees as a result of occupation of Azerbaijani territory by Armenian forces.
There can be no word about the moral aspect of the issue, because Armenian authorities including the president Serzh Sargsyan, Minister of Defence Seyran Ohanyan, the former president Robert Kocharyan and the national hero, ASALA terrorist Monte Melkonyan were the organizers of slaughters in Khojalu, where 613 people were killed in a night”, it is written in the statement.
Taking into consideration the moral and juridical aspects of the suit as well as 8 years of detention, the Embassy of Azerbaijan to Georgia finds the pardon justified. “All the accusations of Armenian authorities concerning a deal between Hungary and Azerbaijan, of EU and NATO are nothing else than attempts of discrediting Azerbaijan. Thus, we announce that the ado raised by FM and mass media of Armenia is an attempt to veil the crimes committed in Nagorno Karabakh. We urge not to believe in the fake accusations of Armenia.”- it is mentioned in the statement of Azerbaijani ambassador to Georgia.
