On 3 September cochairmen of OSCE Minsk Group – Ambassadors from the United States, Russia and France, Robert Bradtke, Igor Popov and Jacques Faure, as well as the personal representative of the OSCE Chairman, Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk met Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov.
A day earlier, the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandian. The purpose of the meetings was to discuss the latest developments in the region and attempts to find a peaceful solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
As 1news.az reports referring to the website of the OSCE, Co-Chairs discussed the issue about Azerbaijani government’s decision on August 31 to pardon Ramil Safarov, Azerbaijani officer, who was serving a life sentence in Hungary for the murder of the Armenian officer in Budapest in 2004.
They expressed their deep concern at the recent events that have caused damage to the peaceful relations and trust between the sides.
The co-chairs drew Ministers’ attention to the fact that, according to the presidents on June 19 in Los Cabos, there is no alternative to a peaceful resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. They will continue to liaise with the sides to reduce tensions and to achieve progress in peacefully.
