The Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan, Elchin Amirbekov, met with several officials during his working visit to Italy. During the meetings, relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union (EU) were discussed.
The Italian side particularly emphasized Azerbaijan’s important role in ensuring Europe’s energy security, developing the Central Corridor, strengthening transport and logistics links between Europe and Asia, and expanding access to Central Asia.
During the talks, Elchin Amirbekov provided detailed information on the process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, the agreements reached in Washington on August 8, 2025, and the further steps and expectations aimed at establishing sustainable peace.
He noted that the results of the parliamentary elections to be held in Armenia this year and the referendum on adopting a new constitution will play an important role in signing a peace agreement between the two countries, which will ensure long-term, stable regional peace. The Italian side emphasized its support for Azerbaijan’s efforts to establish peace and stability in the region and expressed hope that the peace agreement will be signed as soon as possible.
