The German authorities, amid the Strait of Hormuz blockade, have begun closely monitoring oil, gasoline, and jet fuel reserves.
According to the BILD newspaper, a special crisis headquarters has already been created under the National Security Council, headed by State Secretary Frank Wetzel of the Ministry of Economics.
Although Germany has some kerosene reserves (about 1.4 million tons above annual consumption), the situation could deteriorate sharply from May 1.
The main concern is the possible cessation of oil supplies from Kazakhstan via the Druzhba pipeline.
This could deal a serious blow to Berlin and Brandenburg in particular, as well as to the oil refinery in Schwedt, which supplies fuel to Berlin Airport.
