The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, addressed the situation in the South Caucasus ahead of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers meeting, emphasizing the importance of normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to Kal[as, the normalization of relations between the two countries is a priority for the European Union. She said that the issue of a new mission for Armenia will be at the heart of today’s discussions. According to the High Representative, Europe intends to deepen its work with the parties to contribute to the peace process.
“The normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan is extremely important for us. We are going to discuss a new mission for Armenia and how we can further develop our work on its relations,” Kallas noted.
Answering journalists’ questions, the EU’s chief diplomat added that the vast majority of today’s discussions will focus on Armenia and Azerbaijan.
