Russia and Ukraine are “not yet ready” to end the war and reach a peace agreement, despite “months of negotiations” and “vigorous diplomacy” by Donald Trump, US Vice President JD Vance said.
He noted that one of the obstacles to peace talks remains “a fundamental mismatch of expectations, where the Russians tend to think they are better off on the battlefield than they actually are.”
“That’s what has made it difficult to reach an agreement in recent months,” Vance stressed.
The vice president added that the difficulties in the conflict resolution process are frustrating for Trump and the US administration. However, for now, the White House chief continues to work towards peace and has great confidence that an agreement can be reached.
“I think he will get there. It’s just a question of how long it will take,” Vance concluded.
