In a conversation with journalists today, NA Speaker Alen Simonyan stated: “I strongly doubt that if Turkey decides to attack Armenia, the Russian border guards will protect it.”
“The Republic of Armenia no longer needs help, and we can serve our airport ourselves. Our border guards can solve the problem before them,” said Simonyan.
Simonyan answered the journalist’s question about whether there could be a decision to withdraw the Russian border guards from the Armenian-Turkish border in the near future. “There was no such conversation. We must fix one thing: as much as Armenia needed and needed the presence of Russian border guards in Armenia, Russia needed it just as much. Please don’t sell it on us,” the Speaker of the National Assembly emphasized.
According to Simonyan, RA is an independent state, and it is necessary to abandon that idea and come to terms with it.
