According to the application of the budget of coming year by the Migration service, the government of Armenia has offered an additional finance to figure out the real amount of emigration. This was said in the interview with “Haykakan Zhamanak” by the director of Migration service of local government ministry Gagik Eganyan. For investigating the issue the government has provided 13 million AMD.
As Gagik Eganyan says the investigation will be carried out not by the service, but by separate experts of the field.
In October of the previous year there was a census in Armenia, the preliminary results which were published in February and it is expected that the final results will be clear in October. It was expected that as a result of census it would be possible to find out emigration estimates. “HZh” inquired whether the migration service finds impossible to see the emigration estimates by means of census, Eganyan answered: “ Census gave an opportunity to see the migration amounts from 2001 till 2011:”
Eganyan stressed that he has never said there is no emigration, and wants to fix the fact that the amounts of emigration haven’t increased, they remain the same. “If we see that there is no difference in flow of leaving people for years, this at least signifies the emigration fact. But how many, to which countries, from which regions and why will be answered by the investigation results.”
