On December 27, RA National Assembly Deputy Chairman Hakob Arshakyan met the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to RA Nariman Mohammed Sharif Al Mulla. Welcoming the ambassador to the parliament, the NA vice president noted that during the 25-year history of establishing diplomatic relations, a strong and dynamically developing cooperation was formed between the two countries based on the warm ties of the two friendly peoples.
Thanking for the warm reception, the ambassador noted that the two countries have great unrealized potential in several fields, and the upcoming joint activities should be aimed at intensifying cooperation.
The role of parliamentary diplomacy was also emphasized on both sides. In this context, Hakob Arshakyan stresses the role of parliamentary friendship groups as a unique bridge of mutual understanding and mutual trust for establishing a closer dialogue between the two countries’ legislative bodies. He believed a new page of relations between the two countries’ parliaments would open based on partnership and excellent prospects.
To deepen the bilateral political dialogue and ensure the stable progress of cooperation, Hakob Arshakyan also emphasized mutual visits, which stimulate the continuous strengthening of relations and create a favorable basis for mutually beneficial economic and investment cooperation.
As perspective directions of cooperation, the NA Vice President singled out the fields of tourism, infrastructure, renewable energy, construction, agriculture, food industry, high technologies, digitalization, cyber security, and innovation.
According to Hakob Arshakyan, direct flights between the two countries, reaching around 30 per week, significantly contribute to activating bilateral business ties, tourism, and cultural and decentralized cooperation.
In this context, the NA vice-president noted that the protocol on the cancellation of UAE visas for Armenian citizens would also play an essential role in the development of bilateral cooperation, the bill on the ratification of which was adopted at the special session of the NA convened on December 22 and has already been signed by the RA president.
