Following the National Assembly, the French Senate approved the resolution recognizing the Holodomor as a genocide of the Ukrainian people. This was reported on Wednesday, May 17, on the website of the upper house of the French Parliament. 327 out of 343 senators voted for adopting the document, and 16 voted against it.
The resolution acknowledges that the famine, deportations, and systematic extermination of millions of Ukrainians in 1932-1933 were artificially organized by the Soviet government and aimed at destroying the Ukrainian identity.
