Armenia aspires to become an operator in Iran’s Chabahar port. Iranian mass media mention this, referring to the new decision of RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
It is stated in the Prime Minister’s decision: “Guided by Article 7, Part 5 of the RA Law “On the Structure and Activities of the Government” and the Law of Armenia.
According to paragraph 130 of the annex to the decision of the Republic of Azerbaijan Government No. 252-L of February 25, 2021:
To discuss the issues of launching the high-speed multimodal route of international cargo transportation and becoming an operator in the Iranian port of Chabahar, create an inter-departmental working group and approve its composition, support the work rules of the working group, the head of the functional group will submit information to the Prime Minister of RA every three months after the entry into force of this decision. If necessary, recommendations and an action plan, and submit the final results by November 1, 2023,” the decision says.
Iranian mass media also note that the goal of this working group is to develop a new cargo transportation route with the participation of Armenia, which will connect East Asia, India, and Iran with Europe through Georgia and the Black Sea.
