In Armenia people having refugee status or recipients of asylum will now get consent also from the National Security Service. At the tomorrow’s meeting the government plans to approve RA law project about “Refugees and asylum law changes and additions in RA law system”.
Under existing law- the process of inclining asylum a plenipotentiary organ of migration shall not in all cases apply to the National Security Authority-in accordance with the opinion of the Authority on matters of national security is not a mandatory basis for refusing to provide an asylum.
Aplenipotentiary organ of migration, even in case of presence of the appropriate conclusion, can make a positive decision to grant asylum to persons representing a potential threat to national security of RA.
The project is proposed for the RA asylum seekers representing a potential threat to national security, to take the Authority’s conclusion as the basis for denying asylum and not providing them.
