Connected with the clashes in Syria the process of getting passport was simplified for Syrian Armenians.
Now it is not necessary to come to Yerevan. One may get passport in Armenian Embassy to Syria or in other Armenian diplomatic bodies.
Getting Armenian passport is an extra guarantee of security for Syrian-Armenians. In the interview with “1in.am News and Analysis” said the head of the staff of Ministry of Diaspora of RA and president of commission of problems with Syrian- Armenians Firdus Zaqaryan. He noticed that it is not a secret compared with the years 2010-2011, in the year 2012 members of Armenian Diaspora apply for getting passport more often, from January till August 2012 there have been 2500 applications. “People come to Armenia, and this is an occasion for getting a passport and generally double-citizenship is an extra guarantee of security.” – clarified Firdus Zaqaryan
Speaking about the flow of Syrian-Armenians to Armenia, he subjectively said that those Syrian-Armenians who wish to come to Armenia, to have a rest and get passport, will go back to Syria, only a small part will stay.
“About 60 families have wished to stay in Armenia irrespective of the fact whether the clashes will continue or not” – informed Firdus Zaqaryan.
