The interlocutor of “First News and Analyses” was Marxist Davit Hakobyan, who spoke about the upcoming elections and his intentions to run or not.
“Our convention will decide it in early December. Of course, the first thing is our individual desire, agreement to be nominated and the rest will decide the party.”
To the question of reporter whether he or his party to support already nominated candidacies of Serzh Sargsyan, Raffi Hovhannisyan, Gagik Tsarukyan or Levon Ter-Petrosyan he gave a negative answer and noted, “My entrance into the marathon will be the travail of the 4th republic reign in the sense of new economic development and creation of new state machine. Our problem is not to change people, but to create the 4th republic.”
Touching upon the NA political consultations over the transfer to 100% proportional system and the parliamentary system of government, Mr. Hakobyan called it perfect political stupidity. “They do not manage even to answer the questions of people. People ask why in 2017. What does it mean to prepare everything today for 2017? When in the 2013 presidential election there is no need of proportional system.”
When asked what intention had that proposal for systems change he said that that the 4 parties give a path to the President under the condition to provide after him the closure of the presidential institution in 2017. “It means that people are deprived of the right to elect the king from the bottom. They bring as an example the British right, but I’m sorry, the president is the nation’s symbol. England has the Queen, which means they have a symbol, uniting the nation. And we don’t have. In order to transfer to parliamentary system Armenia has to pass 300 years long way of democracy.”
Finally, speaking about the possibility of those parties nominating a single candidate he said that he doesn’t believe in that unity, as these parties have different interests and added that a new electoral law is needed. “The right to vote is an important problem in the implementation of two problems- the government and the physical safety of the public for the government.”
