A political analyst Aram Amatuni states the government has made an important decision on the oil and gas exploitation of Armenia. A couple of weeks ago the government decided the order of the oil and gas search processes and the recent decision is the continuation of the already initiated program. Amatuni mentions this step to have an unclear message to the public: either it is a pre-election step to show the people there are oil and gas resources thus hinting to a bright future or it is a real perspective we could be using.
Amatuni calls this issue an “oil and gas complex” of Armenia, bringing the example of Azerbaijan where everything decided these two natural resources. With bringing this issue on to the agenda the government makes a psychological step to show that it is not as hopeless as the nation believes it to be. Initially the diaspora was the “natural resource” to counteract against Azerbaijani oil and gas policies but it later expired its potential for reasonable reasons: people are not things to be sold and get profit of. Amatuni believes Armenia has one natural resource it has to elaborate cleverly and it is the human mind potential.
The political analyst concludes the human mind potential, creative innovations are not valued in the country and there are no chances for these phenomena to be fully accommodated. Amatuni states the only force driving this country is the instincts and the gas and oil discussions are a means of masking the true degenerated values which could be of extreme importance in case elaborated properly.
