Today, during the joint session of the NA permanent commissions the minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan announced that it is not correct to state there have been no improvements. He indicated the financing of one pupil per year is $250 which exceeds all the other numbers of other countries. According to Ashotyan, Armenia has the highest citation index in the region. As a counterargument, Artsvik Minasyan and Edmon Maruqyan stated it is impossible to develop science based on 50.000 drams salary and that they did not have that right to offend the scientists.
Ashotyan mentioned they have done their best to get most out of the system for science development and that today’s system needs to undergo a number of changes. Artsvik Minasyan expressed his readiness to be part of the elaboration of the legislative changes in the field.
