On September 27 Head of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs Artak Zakarian and the Head of the European Integration Standing Committee Naira Zohrabyan met with the delegation of the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy led by Stefan Füle. Welcoming the guests, Mr. Zakarian said that the RA- EU agenda is quite saturated, and the RA parliament actively participates in the implementation of joint activities.
The parties are referred to the issue of practical implementation of programs by the appropriate agencies of the European Union and the Republic of Nagorno-Karabakh, especially considering their educational, social, cultural and other needs.
The President of the National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs highlighted the importance of Armenia’s involvement in the “CIB” program, which will support the capacity of the National Assembly.
Speaking about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Mr. Zakarian said that the EU should make their statements more selective in its attitude towards the conflicting sides, in this case Azerbaijan. It was noted that the actions of Azerbaijan should be assessed more realistically and not by balancing statements.
As for the regional issues, she noted that in many cases the double standards applied by the European side have been the reason that the Azerbaijani government has ignored European values.
She noted with regret that, as a member of international organization, she had recently noted that the European institutions themselves have retreated with their values, and Azerbaijan succeeds to change climate in prestigious institutions by its petrodollars.
The parties referred to the process of reforms carried out in Armenia and the taken steps. Stefan Fule underlined the fact that Armenia is very active in the implementation of reforms.
