Armenian president, Serzh Sargysn, gives a congratulatory Message on the independence day of Nagorno –Karbakh.
“Dear compatriots
I warmly congratulate us all on the occasion of Nagorno-Karabakh Independence Day.
The last 2 decades reaffirmed the unambiguousness of the historic decision adopted in 1991. Today, the Republic of Nagorno Karabakh is an established state with its structures, army and most importantly, with the citizens who are the masters of their own destiny.
Today, for us and for the international community, Artsakh is a modern republic which embodies the ideals of freedom, sovereignty and democracy, and which despite all the obstacles, as well as artificially created hindrances and hardships, is progressing, developing its economy and culture, and defending peace.
The Republic of Armenia and the entire Armenian nation all these years have been and will continue to be Artsakh’s sturdy supporters. I assure all the citizens of Artsakh and all Armenians that the peaceful resolution of the NK conflict will be a priority and foremost based on the consent and free will of the people of Artsakh.
We owe this holiday first of all to those who stepped into immortality putting their lives on the altar of motherland and freedom. Bowing to their memory.
During the war no country believed in the power of Armenia, of our people, we warned them a lot of times, but they didn’t listen to us. We want peace, we don’t want to be involved in a new war, but if the enemy continues to act in this way, we will fight, and we will win the war.
As a proof of it was the action made some days ago, concerning Ramil Safarof’s case. As all of you know what has happened, I want to mention once more that we will punish them. All I want to say is that we will do everything in order to punish them for that action. I will involve the issue in all the international organizations, and we, all together, will be succeed in the case, because we won’t leave this issue just like that. Axing an Armenian officer is not a “heroism” or “patriotism”. We will show the enemy patriotism and heroism, we will struggle till the end.
Anyway, nothing can spoil this wonderful day.
