By approaching the RF too closely we will contradict with the West, in the case when the RF is dependent on the West itself. Not knowing what we get from RF, we will lose the West. This was noted by the head of “Modus Vivendi” Center Ara Papyan in the conversation with ‘First News and Analyses”, who referred to the warnings of the EU that if Armenia decides to join any customs union, it would be inconsistent with the bilateral agreements between the EU and Armenia, with a deep and comprehensive free trade agreement.
Ara Papian reminded that the preservation of the RA borders is organized not by Armenian forces and organizations, but by the Russian border troops, and if the Eurasian Union to be added to this all, a major question will arise whether Armenia’s foreign relations are in the hands of Armenia.
“What I am worried about is that I could not understand the details of the European Union for a long time, in fact most of these are those details, and giving agreement to something that you do not know what will become is dangerous. So the concern of the West is justified,” said Ara Papian.
According to his observations, the warnings of the West are also attributed to the strained RF- West relations.
“RF, obviously, is making an attempt to restore the Soviet Union by smaller amounts. Hillary Clinton’s statement that they will not allow it was the expression of that concern. I’m against it. When we are too close to the center of any power, be it the West, or the RF, we are in conflict with the other wings.” commented Ara Papian.
