Russian Regnum News Agency, citing the announcement made by British Ambassador to Armenia Catherine Jane Lich, reports that Britain hopes that the upcoming presidential elections in Armenia will be transparent and fair.
“There was some improvement in the parliamentary elections. The OSCE international observers’ mission reports showed progress but also highlighted that in a number of areas there still should be improvement. We would like to see it during the presidential elections” said Lich.
As reported, Ambassador Lich emphasized the use of administrative resources during the election:
“For example the activities of school; not to use the school for various political campaigns, and the role of other state officials in support of a candidate” stressed the ambassador.
Concerning the issue, Lich said that U.S. Embassy on November 30 and December 1 is organizing a meeting in Tsakhkadzor which will discuss those rules and ethical requirements that stick U.S. government, UK and other European countries.
