The United Nations Development Program “Action for Cooperation and Trust” program and the U.S. Agency for International Development said that the church renovation tenders in the Turkish part of Cyprus are “illegal, unfair and non-transparent”.
The local Religious institution is responsible for it. Middle East University is the winner of the tender, which has to transform the church into a cultural center in 10 years.
The organizations expressed their “concerns” and hope that “the issue will be resolved soon.”
Note that it is about Nicosia 14th-century church and monastery of St. Mary, which is located in the Turkish sector of divided Nicosia.
