First News and Analyses conducted an interview with Alexei Vlasov, Russian political-scientist, about the activities of OSKE Mink group over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Our journalist noted that recently Russia has not been involved in the conflict the way he used to and stressed that France is more active, and asked Vlasov to comment on the issue.
“I should stress that Russia is not passive, but I agree that Russian side is not working the way it used to, the main reason is that Russia wants other member of the group to have active participation in the conflict. What about France, I do agree that it has started to get involved in the issue much more actively, and the main reason is the recognition of Armenian Genocide. The new French Government tries to show that it is able to compromise both with Armenia and with Azerbaijan. This is the main reason why France is so active. What concerns Russia I should stress that Russia is also active. As you know Russia organized a meeting in Moscow between the communities of Armenia and Azerbaijan, and this is a great progress. The only difference is the policy of Vladimir Putin (current president), and Medvedev (the third president of Russia). If under Medvedev’s rule the presidents of Azerbaijan and Armenia had “head to head” meetings in this case Russia has chosen another policy.” Said Valasov.
