Those having higher income consume 8 times more products than the poor in Armenia, and by food consume they excel the poor by 5 times, this is informed by “Prices and Vulnerability” report in the framework of the program “Monitoring of food prices in Armenia” organized by Armenian office of “Oxfam”
They note that the main difference is found especially in the consumption of fruit, meat products and butter. The food consumption very often doesn’t correspond to the norms set by the ministry of health of Armenia.
“The meat consumption of poor groups is less by 2kg per month.”- it is said in the report.
The ongoing inflation in Armenia brings about serious changes in consumer behavior. As the report says the consumers started to prefer cheaper food. Decrease is noted in the amounts of consumption.
It turned out that in order to preserve the level of consumption of the year 2010, in average 20-25% more money is needed.
