109 medical institutions in Armenia out of 134 have no competition in the procurement, which led to 50-100% increase of drug prices. Such data was presented to the newly appointed Minister of Health Derenik Dumanyan by the State Commission for Protection of Economic Competition.
Today Mr. Dumanyann had a conference, during which he noted that many medical directors were not even aware that there is state procurement agency and medication must be acquired independently.
Mr. Dumanyann during 100 days of his ruing found out that many people are unaware of their rights and do not know that the state is offering them free treatment. To change this situation, the minister promised to have people be aware of free medical treatment. In his opinion, in order to stop the flow of people to the capital to receive medical treatment can be equally stopped by funding. If, for example, pregnant woman is to give birth in Yerevan and the state pays for it the medical institution 135 thousand AMD, and in the case of region- 97 thousand AMD, then in this case there will not be any difference between medical institutions, the geographical position, free obstetric aid certificate will have the same price.
The Minister added one more novelty concerning pregnant women that they will have the right to give birth for free only in the medical institution of their region.
