During today’s press conference, Director of the Center for Regional Studies, expert Richard Kirakosian, speaking about the parliamentary elections held in Georgia, separated 3 important points: the electoral analysis, the impact of the elections on the future of Georgia and their impact on the future of Armenia.
R. Kirakosyan said that there are 5 important points that may have impact on Armenia. “The first remarkable fact for Armenia is that the ruling party accidentally lost. This is a lesson that the government should not be too self-confident and arrogant. The second lesson- never ignore and disregard the civil requirements. This also shows the strength of democracy in Georgia. The third lesson is also important. What is happening now in Georgia has a historical significance, as it is the first time that the change of power takes place peacefully.”
According to the expert, Georgia and Armenia are quite similar, as there is a healthy atmosphere of political struggle in both countries. “We should hope that there will be changes in foreign policy of Georgia, and it will improve relations with Russia, which will have a good impact on Armenia. That is why we need to pay greater attention to the developments taking place in neighboring countries”. said Richard Kirakosian.
